[ Now, now. Snakes are regarded as guardians of the underworld in many cultures. And, in Egyptian mythology and art the cobra usually represented the goddess Wadjet, who was a protective deity and daughter of the sun god, Re. Her job was (more or less) to help protect Egypt and the cosmos from chaos, so, you know. Don't knock 'em. ]
